THE latest chapter in the Cinderella story of Forever Bond will be written in the coming weeks when the 14-year-old daughter of Danetime will be covered by unbeaten dual world champion Frankel.
Forever Bond is due to foal to her owner Reg Bond’s stallion Monsieur Bond for the sixth time.
Previous matings between the pair have produced Group 1-placed sprinter Hoof It and dual Group 3 scorer Ladies Are Forever.
Forever Bond, a half-sister to high-class sprinter Ratio, was bought on behalf of Bond by Bryan Smart for just 15,500gns at Doncaster in 2001.
Although she never made it to the racecourse, she has made amends at stud by producing five winners from her first five foals – all of whom managed to score in 2011.
“She is around three weeks overdue to produce her Monsieur Bond foal, but she always does that,” said Mary Lowe of Bond Thoroughbred Corporation.
“The Frankel mating is a bit of a pipedream but she has earned the right to visit him as she has done so well at stud.”
It looks set to be a big year for Monsieur Bond, who Bond stands alongside Misu Bond at Norton Grove Stud in North Yorkshire, as he is due to be represented by his first larger crop of two-yearolds, who were bred in the afterglow of his small early crops yielding a number of high-class performers.
One of Monsieur Bond’s best performers, Prix de l’Abbaye heroine Gilt Edge Girl, was sold to the Niarchos family for (Euro)550,000 at the Goffs November breeding-stock sale, while his son Alfred Hutchinson scored in a valuable Lingfield handicap last month.
