The superbly named Love Rat was runner up at Southwell this afternoon, a second consecutive second placed finish. Owned by celebrity author Jilly Cooper and friends, Love Rat was foaled at Norton Grove Stud in 2015 and his dam is Watersilk, who is also the dam of winners Crosse Fire and Misu Moneypenny. We have to congratulate the owners on such a great name, maybe reference to characters in a novel or two!
Luke Morris teamed up with Sir Jamie, a son of Norton Grove’s Monsieur Bond, to record a victory at Lingfield Park this afternoon. Tony Carroll’s chestnut gelding was recording his second career win.
Norton Grove sire Monsieur Bond’s versatility was evident today as Montalbano recorded a win in Ireland over fences for owner Susannah Ricci. Usually associated with sprinters, Monsieur Bond has also sired several National Hunt winners, and Montalbano was recording his third win over jumps.
On the flat Mr Carbonator was also a winner with a Norton Grove connection, scoring at Southwell for trainer Philip Kirby. Mr Carbonator was foaled here at Norton Grove Stud in 2015.
