The stud was founded in the 1970s by Major Jim Hudson, initially standing Count Albany, who was a hunter.
We used to be involved in show jumping, which is why we came up here, and at first I didn’t have much to do with the stallion side of things. But Major had a heart attack and needed to convalesce for a number of months so we had to take over the stallions – and basically didn’t let him back in! He was a hunting/ shooting/fishing type man, that was his big love, so he was quite happy for us take on the stallions.
But we did persuade him to sell all the paintings off his wall so together we could buy Timeless Times the year he was leading British first-season sire. He lacked a big winner, but given he didn’t get many black-type mares, he did very well.
We also stood the Derby winner Morston, although he was never the success he should have been.
Currently we have Monsieur Bond, who moved here the year he had Prix de l’Abbaye winner Gilt Edge Girl, Misu Bond and Milk It Mick, who had Group 3 winner Miracle Of Medinah last year.
